Mediæval Scribal Services
As Wiglaf the Writer, I am happy to offer early Mediæval Scribal Services.
I am constantly working to develop my scribal skills. This means regularly practicing my calligraphy to improve my technique, and working to learn new scripts from the period. I also read around the subject (including palaeography and codicology) when I have the opportunity, and am in regular contact with several more expert individuals. At present I am a scribe only: I can write, but I’m not an illuminator or illustrator, and this is unlikely to change soon! I can happily leave blank spaces for others to fill in.
Mediæval Scribal Services aren’t limited to reproducing ancient manuscripts, if you want a nicely written certificate that will last for centuries I can help. My writing is normally done in iron gall ink on real parchment, and I am able to obtain a choice of calf vellum, goat vellum and sheepskin parchment.
